Sunday Plus |
From the beginning of October 2002, the pattern of evening services changed to build on the previous year's decision to have two morning services.
St Andrew's takes seriously Jesus' commission to the Church "to go and make disciples" (Matt 28:20). That involves being engaged with our local community, seeking to make Jesus known through relevant and attractive programmes and to grow in our faith and relationship with God.
The Sunday Plus programme is designed to do just that - to help us to grow as Christians. The programme allows space to encounter God in worship, in a way that is different from morning worship and allows time for in depth teaching. It is intended that the Sunday Plus programme supplement the morning series rather than provide an alternative to attendance at one of the main morning services.
The decision has been taken to start the Sunday Plus programme at 7p.m. in the hope that this slightly later start will make it easier for people who may have been out in the afternoon to attend the services. This new time also helps parents of young children, who want to get them ready for bed before the evening service. We are aware that the next day is Monday and the start of a new working week and so will ensure that we do not finish late.
