Alpha |
St. Andrew's holds a variety of courses to help people explore their spirituality in the context of the Christian faith. These courses include Alpha, Essence and Journeys. Not all the courses may be running at any particular time, so please contact the Church Office or telephone 01223 232255 if you would like more information.
Alpha courses are held regularly usually in the autumn term. Typically, the course is held in the evening from 7:45 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. Please contact the Church office if you would like more details.

An Alpha course runs for 10 weeks. Each evening session begins with pudding, followed by a speaker or video presentation on an aspect of Christian Basics and then an opportunity to join a discussion group. In the middle of Alpha is a special day, with a bring and share lunch.
The course is ideal for anyone who wants to learn more about the Christian faith and/or anyone who would like to enquire into what Christianity really means. It is also a wonderful opportunity to meet people and make new friends.
There is no charge for the course and no prior knowledge of the Bible is required or assumed. The talks are:

An Alpha course is typically launched with a taster - an Alpha supper, at the conclusion of which there is a short talk entitled Christianity: Boring, Untrue, Irrelevant? We welcome email enquiries about Alpha courses.
A 15 session, ten week practical introduction to the Christian faith. There is no charge for the Alpha course.

Alpha is for:
Anyone interested in finding out more about the Christian faith. People of all ages are welcome.
Learning and laughter. It is possible to learn about the Christian faith and have fun at the same time.
People meeting together. An opportunity to make new friends.
Helping one another. The small groups give you a chance to discuss issues raised during the talks.
Ask anything. Alpha is a place where no question is regarded as too simple or too hostile.
